چکیده
Abstract We extend the modal decomposition method, previously applied to compress information in real-space bispectrum, anisotropic redshift-space galaxy bispectrum. In method approach, bispectrum is expanded on a basis of smooth functions triangles and their orientations, such that set expansion coefficients can capture assume reference survey compute Fisher forecasts for compressed two other decompositions literature, one based (single) spherical harmonics another tripolar harmonics. each case, we compare forecasted constraints from statistic with full, uncompressed which includes all orientations. Our main result three compression methods achieve good recovery full content but approach achieves this most efficiently: only 14 (42) are necessary obtain within 10 (2) per cent result. The next efficient harmonics, while harmonic multipoles least efficient.

Analytic Model for the Bispectrum of Galaxies in Redshift Space
We develop an analytic theory for the redshift space bispectrum of dark matter, haloes and galaxies. This is done within the context of the halo model of structure formation, as this allows for the self-consistent inclusion of linear and non-linear redshift space distortions and also for the non-linearity of the halo bias. The model is applicable over a wide range of scales: on the largest scal...
متن کاملLarge - scale bias in the Universe II : redshift space bispectrum
The determination of the density parameter Ω0 from the large-scale distribution of galaxies is one of the major goals of modern cosmology. However, if galaxies are biased tracers of the underlying mass distribution, linear perturbation theory leads to a degeneracy between Ω0 and the linear bias parameter b, and the density parameter cannot be estimated. In Matarrese, Verde & Heavens (1997) we d...
متن کاملApplication of Data Compression Methods to the Redshift-space distortions of the PSCz galaxy catalogue
We apply a spherical harmonic analysis to the Point Source Redshift Survey (PSCz), to compute the real-space galaxy power spectrum and the degree of redshift distortion caused by peculiar velocities. We employ new parameter eigenvector and hierarchical data compression techniques, allowing a much larger number of harmonic modes to be included, and correspondingly smaller error bars. Using 4644 ...
متن کاملModelling the redshift-space distortion of galaxy clustering
We use a set of large, high-resolution cosmological N -body simulations to examine the redshift-space distortions of galaxy clustering on scales of order 10− 200hMpc. Galaxy redshift surveys currently in progress will, on completion, allow us to measure the quadrupole distortion in the 2-point correlation function, ξ(σ, π), or its Fourier transform, the power spectrum, P (k, μ), to a high degre...
متن کاملThe Bispectrum as a Signature of Gravitational Instability in Redshift-Space
The bispectrum provides a characteristic signature of gravitational instability that can be used to probe the Gaussianity of the initial conditions and the bias of the galaxy distribution. We study how this signature is affected by redshift distortions using perturbation theory and highresolution numerical simulations. We obtain perturbative results for the multipole expansion of the redshift-s...
